Newton Aycliffe, County Durham - industrial development. Ecological impact assessment, including great crested newt risk assessment and ecological supervision of site clearance. Client: Easter Group.

Colchester, Essex - industrial development involving the removal of a number of oak trees from two development sites in Colchester. Retaining the stumps and branches to create loggeries for stag beetles. Clients: Colchester Borough Council and Easter Group.

Wellington, Somerset - industrial development. Surveys for great crested newts and dormice. Development and supervision of a mitigation strategy for dormice including hedge translocation. Client: Summerfield Developments.

Girls' Boarding School, Bristol - school redevelopment. Construction of an artificial badger sett to allow the closure of a natural sett under licence. Great crested newt surveys followed by the construction of new and improved ponds in a newly designed wildlife garden to permit the destruction of the existing pond used by great crested newts under licence to allow the construction of new school buildings. Client: Badminton School.

South Kilburn, London - residential redevelopment. Surveys of numerous local authority tower blocks in north London for bats, followed by six predawn chorus surveys for black redstarts. Clients: London Borough of Brent and Terence O'Rourke.

Trysull, South Staffordshire - barn conversion. Survey, under Natural England licence, of a disused barn containing a roost of brown long-eared bats, with mitigation by retaining space in the barn for the protected mammals. Client: Dove Homes and Developments.

Minehead, Somerset - site for new hospital, sports centre and residential development. Construction of a large artificial badger sett on a greenfield site in Minehead to allow the closure, under Natural England licence, of a substantial natural main sett. Clients: Primary Care Trust and Local Authority.

Norton Fitzwarren, Somerset - large brownfield site for residential development. Following an ecological impact assessment, construction of a bat house for three species of bats, and two artificial otter holts, using modern materials, following the demolition of four small bat roosts and an existing artificial otter holt. Clients: Barratt Homes Exeter, Strongvox and Bellway Homes South West.
