Work conducted
Bat surveys of buildings, bridges, tunnels and trees. Emergence, dawn swarming & flightline surveys using time expansion and frequency division bat detectors, both static and hand-held, and sound analysis software. Assisting clients to obtain Natural England and National Assembly for Wales licences, supervising demolition activities under licence, advising on bat mitigation & mitigation design including construction of replacement roosts and bat houses, installation of heaters and heated bat boxes & monitoring post completion.
The following works have recently been carried out, under licence where necessary:
- Survey, monitoring and mitigation for an established serotine bat maternity roost in Somerset including advice on design of new roofs and heated bat boxes.
- All-night transect surveys in relation to a proposed wind farm in Somerset.
- Endoscope and emergence surveys of motorway bridges in relation to the widening of the M1 motorway.
- Successful incorporation of a lesser horseshoe bat roost into a barn conversion near Bristol.
- Seasonal surveys of disused railway tunnels in the Wye Valley in relation to the development of a cycle path.
